5 domains or components of emotional intelligence proposed by Daniel Goleman are :
1. Self awareness- ability to recognise and understand personal moods and emotions and drives as well as their effects on others.
2. Self regulation - ability to control diruptive impulses and moods and to judge before one takes action.
3.social skills - ability to make and maintain social relationship and building networks.
4. Internal motivation- strong drive or instincts to know what is important and what gives real joy and satisfaction in life, to understand that external factors like money are least important to be happy and passion to find things or acts which provides real joy and satisfaction.
5. Empathy - ability to put ones own self in others shoes and to understand their feelings and emotions and to understand them very well.
B. Emotional competence - ability to express ones own inner feelings or emotions.
Emotions are integral and important part of ones personality. Expressing emotions at appropriate times in a appropriate way is necessary to maintain healthy emotional well well being. The ability to express emotions appropriately wthouwi causing any bad or harm to others and without disrupting others emotions is called emotional competence. If a person is not emotionally competent it becomes difficult for him or her to express themselves,so in order to avoid further disruption or harm they supress their feelings which can get accumulated subconsciously and may lead to displacement later in the form of aggression or violence.
So for a person to have emotional competence he must possess the ability to express their emotions or inner feelings properly.
C. Advantages of E.I in an entry level job :
Emotional intelligence help one to be aware of ones self while dealing with other colleagues, help in maintaining good and healthy professional environment.
Helps in developing internal values on which ones work will be based. Individual will not work for monetary gains but will work for his own excellence and satisfaction.
Helps in taking wise and intelligent decisions keeping a longer vision and not just based on small matters.
Person with high emotional intelligence will grow and also make progress for the company he is working for.
D. Yes of course managing feelings and social perceptiveness are key to success in work place. Reasons for it being
If one doesn't manage their feelings well they will end up acting inappropriate in certain situations and thus causing problems in maintenance of healthy professional relationship. No one want to work with a person who is short tempered ,doesnt feel for others , or who doesn't take care of other well being.
Social perceptiveness is equally important,person who is socially perceptive can understand others well and maintain healthy professional environment.
E. Emotional intelligence have impacted a lot on me in both personal and professional life. I feel being aware of ones self and simultaneously of others is very important,it makes dealing with all people around you easier. If you are good to people ,they are good to you.
Your perception matters a lot,if you perceive people to be nice and good ,people will behave similarly with you.
One should empathize others ,in order to be good to them and help them in their difficult times.
Being a doctor ,being empathetic has helped me tremendously to be a good doctor and to understand my patients better and this their treatment becomes easier and accurate.
Being emotionally intelligent is the key to success.
