Explanation / Answer
The two types of traditional training methods I would use for diversity awareness training session are:
1. Lecture - The objective would be to make employees aware of the meaning of diversity in the workforce, associated terms, company's policy and benefits of a diverse workforce. Each company has a different policy so the trainer needs to educate employees regarding the exact stand of the company on diversity. The idea would be to first enhance the knowledge of workforce about the overall importance of diversity and throw light on appropriate behaviors for an inclusive workplace. A short video can be played which describes these behaviors.
I am using this method as it is inexpensive and we can use audio-visual methods to explain appropriately about the topic.
2. Case Study - This method would be used to reinforce the learnings from lecture training and cover all objectives to be achieved. The idea would be to present real-life situations/problems in a diverse workforce and how people have dealt with them. Trainees would be asked to analyze result in the case and then relate it to company's policy, appropriate behavior and benefits of diversity. A small case study on a successful company built using diverse workforce can also be presented to showcase benefits of a diverse workforce.
