Recently, a friend was enrolled in a 4-week class taught by a Saudi Arabian woman who is an American citizen. One of the men in the audience is from Saudi Arabia and told the leader of the school he would not participate in the seminar because the leader was a Saudi woman. It was against his culture, religious beliefs, and ethics. However, the leader of the school told the Saudi Man that following the ethics and laws of the United States, where the class was taking place, there was nothing wrong. So the Saudi man stayed in the seminar. The Saudi man's ethics were challenged, but he followed the ethics, rules and laws of the country that he was in and the organization where he was working. (1.) As the manager, What would you say to an employee that refuses to attend the ethics training? Your response should be at least one paragraph.

Ethics refers to the moral principles that govern an individual’s actions or behaviour. In an organizational setup, ethics are the shared beliefs and values of the members of the organization. The moral principles shared by the employees of the organization, irrespective of their position in the organizational hierarchy forms the basis of the culture of the company, that is, the way in which work is done within the company on a day-to-day basis. Today, almost every organization, big or small, have their written code of ethics. The actions and decisions of the employees must be aligned with their respective employer’s work ethics. Therefore, it is mandatory for every employee to know and make themselves aware with the ethics of their organization. The code of ethics states the permissible behaviour within the organization and acts as a guiding force for the employees while performing their routine tasks and day-to-day functions or activities.
For people in the managerial positions in the company whose role revolves around taking key business and strategic decisions, abiding by the code of ethics becomes all the more important. If any employee refuses to attend the ethics training, the manager must communicate with him on a one-to-one basis where he should be told about the importance of knowing and abiding by the company’s code of ethics. Following the rules and regulations and making oneself aware about what actions and behaviours are allowed or not allowed within the organization would restrain the employee from taking unacceptable decisions and would also save him from facing legal actions by the employer or any other unforeseen consequences that affects his state of employment. By being a part of the ethics training program, the employee would be in a better state to share the beliefs and values with other members of the organization.
