Question
Each of us has a “response” repertoire: ways in which we are likely to respond to particular stimuli (events, people, situations, or things) in a way that seems “automatic.” For example, some of us have a negative emotional response to the idea of eating ice cream from a dog bowl. As a matter of fact, just the thought of it makes some people contort their faces in disgust (did that just happen to you)? Can you think of a personal emotional response that you believe you may have learned as a function of classical conditioning (much like Pavlov’s dogs)? Trust me, you have many.
Explanation / Answer
Feeling proud and/or getting goosebumps whenever national anthem or patriotic song is played. We are conditioned to feel proud of our country with full of hopes and positivity. This feeling is instilled from the childhood and when such song is played even in the most unexpected situation it brings goosebumps and a proud positive emotional response.
