We live in a society that venerates youth. As we grow older, our physical and cognitive abilities often begin to deteriorate, which can lead us searching for a way to return to our younger days. Think of all the lotions and potions available to keep us all looking and feeling young. It’s a billion dollar industry. TV, movies and magazines are filled with young people and often stereotype older adults. We are often surprised by people who “age well” because we’ve bought in to a particular idea of what it means to age in this country. My guess is that the older you are, the more you’ve noticed this.

The Coco-Cola ad for the seniors on the youtube is an ageist ad. This ad is based on stereotype that every elderly adult wants to relive their youth. In this ad an elderly adults takes the first sip of his Coca-cola for the very first time in his life. This very first sip of his very first Coca-Cola gives strengths to relive his youth again and do what he always wanted to do his youth but couldn't do because he hadn't that strength and guts. It portrays that elderly adults always have some regressed desires, and when given a chance they would want to do it. This is spreading a negative image of the elderly adults.
