Heart rate is the number of times heart needs to beat per minute. Systolic blood pressure is the arterial blood pressure that is pumping against.
1. During exercise demand for oxygen increases in our muscles increases sharply. To cope up with the condition the heart beat increases and enhance the blood flow. This helps the fast delivery of oxygen rich blood into the muscle cells. Systolic pressure also increases due to contraction movements of the heart.
2. Some of the factors affecting heart rate measurement are:
1. Temperature - Thermal stress load results in increase of blood flow into the skin to maintain the temperature.
2. Emotions and anxiety - heart pumps more for flight response and hormone release.
3. Dehydration - the blood is thickened and clogged with waste. Heart pumps faster to remove the waste and maintain the normal cardiac output.
4. Medication - some medications block the adrenaline ( beta blocker) and decrease HR
5. Cardiovascular disease - plaque formation in the arteries leads to arrhythmia which results in variations in HR.
