Explanation / Answer
Dear students,
I am very glad to address you on the issues of the health promotion. It is easier to implement in younger age groups like you. Mortality due to cardiovascular diseases has been increasing in the last few decades and is the leading cause of death accounting for more than 50%. Even in younger age, it us responsible for 20% of morality and nearly 40% of morbidity.
Making few life style changes like avoidance of smoking and alcohol, avoiding fast foods and regular physical activity will go a long way in preventing the development of cardiovascular diseases and associated mortality and morbidity. Hence I request you to engage in these activities and preserve your health.
Regards
Surgeon General
