Three different alloys were tested. Also, the temperature of the plates was varied because the temperature is known to influence the friction. 1st factor: Temperature
For Alloy A, it can be seen that there is not much difference in wear and tear when the temperature is 500 and 750. The wear is similar in both cases. However when the temp. increases to 1000, wear increases a lot. For alloy B, there is a consistent fall in the wear as the temperature decreases, so the wear follows a linear pattern with temperature. For alloy C, it can be seen that when temp. is 1000, wear is more but as the temp. falls, the wear is almost consistent.
2nd factor: Days
For alloy A, day 1 shows a significant wear since the temp. is 1000. On day 2 and day 3, the wear is almost similar. For alloy B, day 1 begins with 750 temp. which shows a significantly less wear as compared to day 3 or 1000 temp. On day 2, with 500 temp., the wear has also decreased. For alloy C, day 1 wear is almost similar to day 3 wear with temperatures of 500 and 750. However, day 2 has significant wear with 1000 temperature.
