Question
(I) Name all embryonic germ layers that would have contributed to the tissues visible in the drawing (name which visible tissue would have emanated from which germ layer); (II) Name the basic tissue types that are present by giving examples and name up to three tissue types that are not represented in this drawing (if any are not represented)
Hair shaft Interfollicular epidermis Hair follicl Papillary dermis Sebaceous gland LGR6 LRIG1 PLETI Reticular dermis Arrector pili GLI1 uscle LGR5 CD34 Derma papilla Hypodermis Fig1. Mouse back skin. Markers of different epidermal stem cell populations (LGR& LRIGL PLETL GLI1, LGR5, and CD34) are shown. LGR6 and LRIG1 are expressed in the hair follicle isthmus, whereas CD34 and LGR5 are bulge markers. The three dermal layers (boxed) are the reticular dermis, papillary dermis, and hypodermis/white adipose tissue. The dermal papilla and arrector pili muscle constitute two specialized populations of dermal mesenchymal cells. The hair is shown in the resting phase of the hair growth cvcle. IRedrawn from (60).1Explanation / Answer
(I) The tissues visible in the drawing are dermis, interfollicular epidermis, hypodermis, sebaceous gland, reticular dermis and papillary dermis. All these tissues are a part of epithelial tissue and epithelial tissue is orginated from all the three germ layers. The above tissues which orginate from MESODERM are dermis,hypodermis,reticular dermis and papillary dermis.The tissues which orginate from ECTODERM are hypodermis and sebaceous gland.
(II) There are four basic tissue types ,viz;
Epithelial tissue e.g; skin
Muscular tissue e.g; muscles
Nervous tissue e.g; nervous system
Connective tissue e.g; blood
The three tissue types which are not represented here are Muscular tissue, Convective tissue and Nervous tissue.
