1. Cerebrospinal fluid is a colourless fluid present in the brain and spinal cord.

2. It is produced by choroid plexus of the ventricles.

3.CSF provides mechanical and immunological protection to the brain. Other functions are maintaining homeostasis, prevention of ischemia, waste removal.

4. CSF also helps in cerebral autoregulation and cerebral blood flow.

5. CSF is composed of PROTEIN FREE blood plasma. It has higher CHLORIDE and EQUIVALENT SODIUM as compared to plasma.

6. It also contains water, glucose, potassium and calcium.
