Bile is made up of bile acids, bile pigments and other substances that are resembles the pancreatic juice. Bile pigments, bilurubin and biliverdin are responsible for the golden yellow color of the bile. Bile acids are comments with vitamin D, cholesterol and steroid hormones. Others are dissolved in an alkaline environment like pancreatic juice. History of liver disease is important since liver is detoxification organ that clears the toxins in blood, liver synthesis the albumin that maintain the osmotic pressure of blood, also liver synthesis the coagulation factors that leads to blood coagulation. With the damage to liver there is low albumin in blood. The low oncotic pressure that leads to unopposed action of hydrostatic pressure that pushes the fluid from intravascular compartment to extravascular compartment in abdomen and ankles. Liver helps in post translational corboxylation of clotting factors like 2,7,9,10 that helps in blood coagulation, without them leads to excessive amount of blood loss. High hydrostatic pressure that pushes the blood out of the vessel that causes hemolysis of blood cells which are seen underneath the skin in the form of bruising.
