Both have absorptive cells that absorb water.The absorptive cells are epithelial cells I.e non keratinised stratified squamous epithelial cells. In small intestine absorption of food and water and other substances takes place, large intestine also have cells for absorption of water.

Both have muscularis mucosa layer that constrict for peristalsis. Both have contractions but large large intestine have some prominent muscularis mucosa.

Both have goblet cells for lubrication and protection. Large intestine have more goblet cells than small intestine.
