A CBC was ordered which revealed leukocytosis, thrombocytopenia and erythrocytopenia.

A pulse oximeter test was done and showed hypoxia. The patient was given a local anesthetic prior to the collection for bone marrow for testing.

The test revealed results suspicious of myeloma or leukemia. Post-anesthesia, the patient became tachycardic and cyanotic and succumbed to anaphylaxis. Testing showed that the patient was hypersensitive to the anesthesia.

MYELOMA; It is a cancer arising from plasma cells, a type of WBC which is produced in the bone marror TACHYCARDIA; It is heart rhythm disorder in which the heart rate exceeds the normal resting rate. A resting heart rate over 100beats per minute in adults is called tachycardia. CYANOSIS; Bluish discoloration or lividness of skin and mucous membrane due to imperfect oxygen saturation of blood.
