Motor neuron is made up of single motor neuron and all of the muscle fibers innervated by that motor neuron. Motor unit recruitment is a measure of how many motor neurons are activated in a particular muscle. More the number of activated motor neurons, more is the force of contraction of muscles.
All skeletal muscles have a resting length and when muscles are stretched to the ideal length, it can maximize muscular contraction. Tension development increases as we increase the resting length to a point, and then the tension or force development decreases with further stretch.
In summation, the second contraction is significantly greater than the first. In incomplete tetanus, muscle is not allowed to relax completely. In complete tetanus, the relaxation of muscles does not occur at all.
