Explanation / Answer

Activity 2

1.Answer

Kidney is surrounded by three layers

i. deep layer that is Renal capsule

ii. Middle layer that is Adipose capsule

iii.  Supercial layer that is Renal fascia

Renal capsule is the dense irregular connective tissue. it extend along with the outer layer of the ureter. It gives protection to kidneys against the infection.

Adipose capsule is a of adipose tissue bordering the renal capsule. They act as cushions and gives the protection to kidneys.

2.Answer

a.Glomerulus which houses the renal corpuscles present in the renal capscule. It is mainly responsible for filtration of blood.

b. Renal pelvis is a single large cavity which brings the urine to bladder through ureters.

c. Renal columns are located between the renal pyramids and separates them

d. Papillary Ducts collect the urine from papillae and it drains into the structures called minor and major calyces

Activity 2

1. Answer

a. Glomerulus

b. Bowman's space

c. Glomerular capsule or bowman's capsule

2. The inner visceral layers of the glomerular capsule is composed of cells called podocytes. These cells have foot like procesess called Pedicels that interdigitate to form Filtration Slits. The visceral layer of glomerular capsule lies on the top of the glomerulus which is studded with pores called fenestrations. Collectively, the inner visceral layer of the glomerular capsule and the glorerulus comprises Filtration Membrane
