“The University of Washington Tacoma fosters a thriving and equitable society by educating diverse learners and expanding knowledge through partnership and collaboration with all our communities.”

Explanation / Answer

First mission statement focuses on creating global citizens by educating all the communities. Although it talks about global citizens, it also focuses more on the locality and developing local people.

Second mission statement focuses on the following two key words which are essential in this modern world.

1. Fosters a thriving and equitable society

2. Collaboration with all our communities

It's talking about equality and collaboration with all the communities which make it more appealing.

In short the second statement seems to be more appropriate when compared to the first one.
