Kinesics is used to portray moods and emotions effectively. Example,the smileys we use on our phones. Eye contact is an important form of non verbal communication. For example, in a public setting like airport or gym while we wait we do tend to engage in a small with someone sitting next to us to kill time.Making an eye contact with the person indicates that you are interested in talking but if the other person is not making an eye contact it shows they dont want engage in a coversation. Physical appearance can usually make or break ceratin situations. For example, when you have a presentation to five in the office personal grooming matters as much as your communication. A casual outfit for a presentation does not sends out a good message to the clients,that just indicates you aint very serious about your work. Going in a suit with well kept hair and polished shoes sends out non-verbal cues that you mean business. Paralanguage is found in facial expressions. For example,A smirk could convey a sense of self satisfaction or shy response to an embarassing situation. A cocked eyebrow could signify surprise or inquistiveness. Gestures are also part of paralanguage,slouching with arms crossed communicated disinterested attitude. Haptics or touch is a very type of non verbal communication. An inappropiate touch gives out a wrong and strong message. A high five with a friend indicates a sense of achievement or happiness. Olfactics is all about smell. Smell that comes out from baking breads and cookies signifies comfort. One automatically thats feeling nice with this smell. The smell of perfumes also provide a nice and happy feeling. Chronemics example could be that people having a high status like celebrities could actually keep waiting the low status people for long hours.
