Independent variable is a variable which stands for itself and does not depend on another factor to influence it hence the name independant variable. The type of tires in this situation is the independant variable as that the reason for the study that doesn not change any other factor.

Dependent variable is a variable that depends on the independant variable. It is somethhing that is to be identified through the course of the exeriment and it is the factor that is affected. The dependant variable in this case is the amount the tires have been used which chenged based on the wheel therefore it is the dependant variable.
