Question

I am doing a research project on how color affects one's mood and to test my hypothesis I will be performing a survey. The survey would be taken by 20 female and 20 male college students. The survey would be on how the colors, blue, red, yellow, green, orange, purple, brown, black, and pink make them feel. The students will mark the feeling that each color makes them feel, according to the choices shown on the survey. According to that can you please help me figure out the following questions:

1. What is your independent/subject variable? How do you plan to measure this?

2.     What is your dependent variable? How do you plan to measure this?

3.     If you were running a true experiment, what types of extraneous variables should you be concerned about?

4. Are you using a between-subjects or within-subjects design? Please explain.

Explanation / Answer

The research aims to study the effect of colours on emotions /feelings.

1. Indepemdent variable would be the colours

2. Dependent variable would be the emotins or feelings of subjects.

3. Extraneous variable could be the environmental factors i.e the noise , temperature , lighting , comfort etc when the research is being conducted. These could unintentionally effect the research.

4. Within subject design is being used .
