Explanation / Answer

1. The theory of Work Adjustment suits me best because it covers the employees physical, social and psychological needs which the company supports and in turn it makes me contribute achieve and maintain my relationship with the employer and my work environment.

2. This theory was developed by Dawis and Lofquist and according to them Work adjustment is a 'continuous and dynamic process by which a worker seeks to achieve and maintain correspondence with a work environment' because it's a reciprocal process.

The major components are mutual help, better work environment, scope for individual achievement, cordial relationship between the employer and the employees and better productivity.

3. This theory will be applicable for most of the entry level employees who will be confused about their work environment. They will get plenty of employee support and benefit programmes which will increase their productivity. Youngsters also like supporting employers and consider them as parental figures but it depends on which culture they come from. For people who come to a foreign country as expatriates, the initial one year will be very problematic and their adjustment to the societal and job related things will be few issues. Some people adapt and adjust quickly while others take time to adjust. Proper counselling and suggestions from the employers side will rectify this problem.

4. This theory has its own strength and weaknesses

To conclude, Work adjustment theory has helped me not only in adjusting to my workplace but also provided the mush needed guidance and support to withstand all my pressures and excel in my career so far. I would rather go with the Work Adjustment theory although other theories might help different people. People choose their career according to their personality types. For example a persuader will often go with the marketing job.
