The four Ds are the four criteria that mental health professionals rely upon when determining abnormal behavior.
Tensions and distress occurs normally in everyday life but that shouldn't be confused with abnormal behavior, but the mood swings or tensions and anxiety that prolongs and are based without a specific reasons should be considered as abnormali. Deviances differ from culture to culture, the cultures that are more conventional and traditional, wearing short clothes that exhibits body parts is a deviance from their perspective also kissing and hugging in public places is a taboo here. Aggression is considered to be a masculine trait, and domestic violence is not considered as maladaptive behaviors in many culture, hence, the indivuduals of such culture term them to be normal ,learn them and practice it ,on the other hand the other group endure it because they're are taught by their culture to do so. Also some indivuduals have a risk taking tendency for which they pose a danger to themselves and others, but otherwise they are healthy normal persons.Example high speed driving, cliff climbing, deep sea diving etc. These are some examples of how due to cultural and individual differences some behaviors are confused to be abnormal.
