1.Erik Erikson, in his theory of psychosocial development talks about how development is a life long process, which can be categorized into 8 stages.Each stage describes a conflict, which is overcome to gain an important virtue and make a healthy transition to the next stage.

According to Erikson, in the adolescent age of 12 to 18 years, an individual begins to seek the answer to the question 'Who am I ? ' This is the fifth stage where the conflict arises between ego identity and role confusion. During these years, individuals look for role models and peer support to feel that they have an identity, if this identity is not firm, the individual remains confused about who they are or who they want to be like.
