It is not ethical because

Eating Time Bo and Moe were surprised by Kevin's openness. On one Stooges LLP for only three months. Yet the partners in hand, they valued that trait in their employees. On the other charge of the firm-Bo Chambers and his brother, Moe- hand, they couldn't answer with a yes. Moe looked at Bo, and then turned to Kevin and said: "It's up to you to decide how toincrease your productivity on audits. As you know, this is Kevin Lowe is depressed. He has been with the CPA firm have asked for a "sit-down." Here's how it goes "Kevin, we asked to see you because your time reports indicate that it takes you 50 percent longer to complete audit work than an important element of performance evaluation." Kevin cringed. Was the handwriting on the wall in terms "Well, I am new and still learning on the job," replied of his future with the firm? “I understand what you're saying," Kevin said. "I will do That's true," Bo responded, "but you have to appreciate better in the future-I promise that we have fixed budgets for these audits. Every hour over the budgeted time costs us money. While we can handle it in the short run, we will have to bill the clients whose audit you work on a larger fee in the future. We don't want to lose clients as a result." "Good," responded Bo and Moe. "Let's meet 30 days from now and we'll discuss your progress on the matters we've discussed today and your future with the firm." Questions "Are you asking me to cut down on the work I do?" Lowe 1. What would you do if you were Kevin and why? How would you explain your position to Bo and Moe when you asked. "We would never compromise the quality of our audit work home and not charge it to the job. so much longer than other staff members." At this point, Lowe started to perspire. He wiped his fore- meet in 30 days? head, took a glass of water, and asked: "Would it be better if I took some of the work home at night and on weekends, com- pleted it, but didn't charge the firm or the client for my time?"

Explanation / Answer

The above case study shows us a glimpse of the work climate that Kevin works at. It also shows a brief glance at Kevin's personality which might have tinges of anxiety and openness as mentioned. Bo and Moe also seem to work well together and come up to the same conclusion.

It is ethical because when Kevin was hired to do the job, he was aware of the work that he had to do and the consequences of not completing the work in the stipulated time. By agreeing to this, he is saying that he would finish the work in the said amount of time, ensuring that the company does not face any losses. The work that the organisation has given Kevin seems to be reasonable as it is mentioned that Kevin's predecessor completed the same amount in a lesser amount of time. As a result, it is expected from him to find the means to complete the work by the deadlines. As Kevin mentioned, perhaps the reason he is unable to complete the work is simply because he is new at the job and needs some time to adjust, and would pick up as time goes on.

It is not ethical because when Kevin had got the job, he probably had a fixed contract which stated the time that he was to invest in the job i.e ( 9am to 5pm) and he was to be payed for his working hours and he is protected by the Labour Laws to ensure the same. If Bo and Moe agree to it, it means that they are not giving him his share of payment as he is putting extra time and effort into the job without any compensation for the same.
