Neurons: neurons are the basic structural unit of the brain which are specialised cells that work by transmission of information to other cells such as gland cells or muscle cells. The structure of neuron consists of axon, cell body and dendrites. Sensory input: this is the stimuli that will be perceived by senses in the form of touch, sight, smell as well as hearing. Any thing that can be perceived by the senses is known as sensory input. Cerebral lobes: the are four lobes In the brain. These are known as the frontal lobe, occipital lobe, parietal lobe and the temporal lobe. Each lobe carries out various functions associated with the different parts of the brain. Frontal lobe carries out ognitive funcfions, parietal lobe caries out information of taste, temperature, touch or movement. Occipital lobe carries out vision functions. Limbic system: the limbic system is a set that remains locate on either side of the thalamus, just beneath the cerebrum. The limbic system would carry out a number of functions such as motivation, emotion, behaviour, olfaction and long term memory.
