Question

elp Save&ExitSubmit; Check my work Problem 8-12 I assembly system and a. An output of 675 units per shift (7.50 hours) is desired for a new processing system. The system requires product to pass through four stations where the work content at each station is 28 seconds. What is the required cycle time for such a system? (Round your answer to the nearest whole number.) Cycle time seconds b. How efficient is your system with the cycle time you calculated? (Round your answer to the nearest wihole number) Efficiency

Explanation / Answer

a) Cycle Time Required= Total Time Taken/ Total Output = 7.5 * 60 * 60 /675 = 40 sec/unit

b) Activity time on each work station = 28 sec

Activity time on 4 workstation = 28 * 4 = 112 sec

Present Cycle Time = Activity time on 4 workstation = 112 sec

Efficiency = Reduction/Required = 64.28% more efficient
