Explanation / Answer

The brief , everyday exchanges that send denigrating messages to certain individuals because of their group membership (people of color, women,LGBTs).Solarzono,Cejo and Yosso (Cited in Granger,2011)

The helper being part of the Society has her/his of own set of biases and prejudices , hence, the first and foremost step in minimising the microaggession in their work with clients is to be aware of their own values, tendentiousness and suppositions. To acquire knowledge of diversity of the world and their clients belonging to this diversity.A self commitment against prejudices of color, gender and sexual orientation. An understanding of the greater need of the helping the individual and that the prejudices and biases will hamper the outcome of counseling.

Rapport formation is the foremost basis of any clients and therapist clinical relationship, the better this relationship is , better the outcomes of the therapies and interventions in counseling. When microaggession is unintentionally and inaptly delivered by the clinician or the counselor it impacts the credibility, clarity and credibility of the counseling process in a negative way.A good rapport, interpersonal interactions and communications cannot be established, hence, counseling process will not deliver the expected result and the helpee cannot be benefitted during the same.

The daily examples of microaggession are making feel that one is alien, remarks on the physical and feature especially color, myth of meritocracy, comments regarding sexual orientation etc.Mostly these when delivered intentionally or unintentionally are ignored although they make deep mental wounds in the targeted persons because these are subtle form of discriminations by the majority or the dominating.
