1) Explanation of the week's topic field.

2) Description of how research is typically conducted in this field.

3) Examination of how the article applies this methodology to produce their findings (Clinical Psychology)

Explanation / Answer

1. Clinical psychology is a branch of psychology that concerns itself with the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of behavioural and psychological disorders. Clinical psychologists thus typically engage in research, teaching, psychotherapy, consultation, forensic testimony, and program development and administration.

2. Clinical psychologists make use of both, quantitative and qualitative techniques, although an emphasis is placed more on the former. Some of the quantitative techniques include correlational research, experiments, quasi experiments, brain imaging techniques, surveys, self report inventories and the like. On the other hand, qualitative methods include case history, interviewing, observation, ethnographic studies etc.

3. The study uses experimental methodology to produce its findings. This is because they compared the effects of yoga on mild depressive symptoms. To do this, they compared the results between two groups - one that had practiced yoga and one that did not.
