Would you change education? Would you change the law? Would you require more regulation over advertising and product information? If so, how would you know how much regulation would help?now how much regulation would help?

Explanation / Answer

Social Bias :

Self serving bias: This is that part of a person's nature where they over estimate themselves for achieving something. These people demonstrate this behaviour on a fairly regular basis. They also attribute failures to be situations that are beyond their control and that they are not responsible for those failures. For example a student who attributes good marks to himself and lower marks to the difficult paper and examiner's fault. Also, when I would be a team leader  I would look for ways in which the team would comply with my ideas.

Memory errors and biases :

Bizarreness effect: The weird and bizarre things are remembered much better than the monotonous, day to day activities. For example: after college is over, students remember the weird actions or the mischievous they have done rather than an actual classroom lecture.

In order to change these fallacies, a law or regulation would not be much helpful, because these thoughts are embedded in a person's psyche. Thus to remove such biasing , debiasing techniques are required and these de biasing techniques include training and constant poking around or nudging. To remove these approaches, one can use cognitive bias mitigation or modification. A person has to be constantly corrected and therapeutically counselled if any of these biases seem to interfere with the normal functioning of life.
