Substance use : A study conducted by National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) reveals that nearly 48.2 percent of individuals have used drugs at one or other during their high school.Surveys of high school seniors reports that many have experimented with at least one dangerous narcotics by the time they hit 18 years of age.The term substance use means taking of psychoactive drugs and substance in small amount or occasionally.The intake of such substance hasn't become his habit or doesn't controls his behavior.

Substance Abuse: Continuous and Compulsive use of psychoactive drugs and substance despite of knowing the harmful consequences of it is called Drug abuse.The individuals psychological and physiology dependency increases.The mood, behavior, cognition, perception of a person get altered in Substance abuse.The only aim of an individual is to seek for drugs, as their mind and body craves for it.

Substance Intoxication :A recent intake of psychoactive drugs and substances that causes sudden dysfunctional changes in tthe behavior,mood state, cognitive process or all of them as a result.These type of dysfunctions are often disruptive but are reversible when the effect of drugs and alcohol subdues.

When a person consumes alcohol occasionally in smaller doses and doesn't have any type of dependency on the same i.e consumption of alcohol or drugs doesn't interferes with his /her day to day life then it can be said its drug use.
