In your opinion, what kinds of wrongdoing do these activities constitute? What kind of message does this kind of behavior send to the public about the honor and moral compasses of the folks who are entrusted with the highest public offices in their respective states? What about those public officials who reverently speak publically about “God’s Laws”, but then violate them in private? Support your answers.

Explanation / Answer

Answer: There are a number of unethical acts like corruption, sex scandals and so on which have been committed by those who hold public offices. Such act constitutes the breach of trust of the public and oath which the public servant takes for not behaving in unethical manner. Such acts send a very negative image of the public servants in the public. Such acts send a negative message to the public about the moral compasses and honour of the people whom they have entrusted with the duty of protecting their rights. When the public servants act in this way the public loses confidence on them and starts mistrusting them. The public servants who speak god’s law in public but violate them in private get a bad name and they lose trust of the public. They not only face legal actions against them but they lose public confidence and this prevents them from assuming the public office again. Therefore it is important that the public servants do not indulge in unethical acts as they may not only bring and action against them but they will also lose public confidence which is require for them to be in office.
