The technology and the media have played increasingly larger roles that may have affected our interpretation of physical development and perceptions. Please share your thoughts regarding how television shows portray physical characteristics across the lifespan. TV serials usually influence kids and adolscents. Mass Media is the fastest way to convey any idea. People often complain about inccrease in voilence, sexuality and commercialism in mass media.

Let us take an example from biological perspective - Before any serial ends, we can see in the corner details of next serial, hence the viewer focuses on that and then there is high probablity of increase in emotional arousal - as per the theme of the serial eg, violence, horror, sexiality etc. There are studies which show that watching TV for prolonged period leads to anatomical changes in brains - esp. child's brain and lowers his verbal ability.

I come from India. In India, daily soaps are very popular. Such daily soaps are mainly potrayed on family lives. It often shows disputes on Family, so while watching this subconsciously those negative feelings start developing in mind. There are some positive points indeed, such good relations in the family, which makes us remind of our good moments. Watching these serails and talking about also help in building the thoughts.
