Nations are generally divided into two camps when it comes to human rights. In one camp, you have the "Universalists", or nations that believe that all humans have the same rights, regardless of where you are from, what color your skin is, what religion you follow, etc. The rest of the world falls into the "Relativist" camp, where they contend that human rights should be shaped by the national history and culture of a country. Which side of this argument do you find most compelling and why?

In my view, the principles governing human rights should be universal and inalienable. By its very definition, these are values that pertain to all members of the human race. Everybody is born with and possesses the same rights, regardless of where they live, their gender or race, or their religious, cultural or ethnic background. In fact, being a human comes before our national or cultural background.
