6) CRITICAL THINKING/RESEARCH ASSIGNMENT: Physician assisted suicide is a hotly debated topic in Death and Dying. For this, your final writing assignment question, use the text-AND-credible research to make an argument either for physician assisted suicide or against physician assisted suicide. As a part of your write-up, please include a link to a video (youtube, TED, etc...) that helps to make your point (this is NOT your credible research citation). Please briefly explain what your video within your write-up. This write-up should be at least 1-page in length.

Explanation / Answer

Physician assisted suicide is also referred as an assisted suicide which would be committed by the help of another person that is mostly a physician. This term has been used in an interchangeable manner, as a physician assisted suicide, that would be involving a doctor, where they would be intentiwlky providing lethal doses drugs. This is similar to euthanasia, but is different from euthanasia. In euthanasia, there would administration of a drug’s lethal dose, and that in this case the person would be in a sound state of mind. Whereas, in physician assisted suicide, the person should be expressing mind and their wish of dying, for self administration.

I agreee, that physician assisted suicide should be allowed. This is because, it would be an aid in reduction of a person’s suffering, coming up as a result of terminal illnesses. This should mostly be allowed for the people for whom death is an imminent aspect, and cannot be avoided. This is used for making death peaceful for a person, who do not want the unbearable dying process. And I agree with this view. Quantity is often not as desirable as quality. Though a person may live a longer life, their life would be full of pain. People surrounding them would be wanting their presence, but this cannot be transferred to the people surrounding the patient, ultimately troubling the soul. Hence, physician assisted suicide is justified for valid cases.
