Tenochtitlan was the capital and religious city of Aztec civilization. It was located in central Mexico on an island.
The literal meaning of Tenochtitlan is ‘among the prickly pear rocks(growing)’.
Because it was surrounded by rocks and cactuses.

It was covered an estimated around 7.5 to 13 km. It was well connected to the land by movable bridges. There were canals and interconnected lakes also present.
Streets were very large and straight and also there were small streets were present.
