Question

Mrs. Brenda, married, 45 years old. She has two university children, she does not work, she is a housewife. She comes to you for advice.
Mrs. Brenda says: I'm sick of the life I've led. I don't know, I always wanted to study to be a secretary, but my husband did not want to. So I stayed at home taking care of my children, now they left the house, I'm alone and bored at home. Even my husband bothers me. I need a change in my life, I want to go to college and my husband does not understand me. He says I'm already old to go to college, that I don't need it. Sometimes I feel like running out of my house. I do not know what to do. Please help me.

What elements do you think there is in this case that suggest a crisis?

Explanation / Answer

In the above given Case as given there can be three elements i think need to see :-

1. Mrs. Brenda not able to convence her husband and also leaved in his dominance, which now make her furstrate.

2. She was very busy in her family that she not made time for her own education.

3. She, was not capable enough to keep her choice and importance in family and her own life.

This, all three reasons stops her to get what she wanted in her life and that's she did what others want her to do and now she is all alone then she is feeling lonliness in her life. In, her case i can suggest her to get proper converstion with her husband why she want to do this course and importance of her dreams too. Then, she can also opt some other option like distance education or online conversation.
