Question
A single story affects people's sense of self by causing them to misunderstand and have one solid perception/views on others. To have a better understanding of a person/ situation, people must be exposed to others individual's stories. when a person is only exposed to his single-story its tends to make he/she ignorant, closed-minded, and lack the ability to accept other individuals opinions/views. Most people are great believers in the single stories created by society/ higher power. How many of us have stereotype a person/ group of people without knowing them. We tend to have mistaken ideas of others due to only being exposed to one single story.
do you agree or not? explain
Explanation / Answer
Yes, I agree with the statement that a single story affects people's sense of self which leads to misinterpretation and have biased view about others. It develops a close ended mindset beyond which a person cannot think of others. His own single story makes him ignorant of others and other situations. He stated thinking that whatever he has been experienced or exposed to, that is only true. When we are being exposed to one single story, we will start thinking about one particular individual or incident leaving behind others.
