Question
Everyday Conversations Instructions Out of the "Everyday Conversations" that we conduct on a daily basis (i.e. small talk, apologies, and compliments), which one is the easiest for you to establish or use? Which one do you seldom use? Why? Consider the topics discussed so far in terms of self-awareness, politeness, etc. Write a paragraph of at least 5-8 sentences answering this entry. Then, reply to at least two (2) peers’ posts. As always, in the secondary posts, you need to demonstrate critical thinking in a paragraph of at least 4-5 sentences.
Explanation / Answer
Types of everyday conversations include small talk, introducing people, excuses and apologies, complimenting and advice. Among all of these, small talk is the easiest for me as it it revolves around general and non-controversial topics. With small talk, it is easy to engage with others and keep the conversation relatively short. At the same time, one can choose to answer questions with sufficient elaboration and take leave after a short period of time. However, I am perhaps worst at giving advice to others. In my opinion, advice should not be given without sufficiently understanding another person's perspective and worldview. Whenever I try giving advice, I feel that I am imposing my own thoughts and feelings about a situation, which may not be the best course of action for another person. Therefore, even in situations where giving advice is warranted, I tend to refrain from doing so.
