Question
B.
Itd truly be a wonderful thing if there was such a machine that could tell and identify the guilty from the innocent with 100% accuracy. But unfortunately, such a machine doesn't exist and I think it's important that we remember the fact that the polygraph isn't this type of machine. What the polygraph does do is record a person's physiological responses to questions asked measures physiological arousal, such as rapid heart rate, quickened breathing, rising blood pressure and increased skin moisture. These results are then interpreted by examiners both accurately and inaccurately. So. although technology can now measure extremely small differences in arousal and make scoring of these measures more precise, there still isn't a clear set of physiological responses exclusively associated with lying. Because of this, I believe the use of polygraphs should be determined on a case-by-case basis since they are still useful tools in their own right but shouldn't be the only reliable source of evidence to avoid the issue of convicting innocent by an examiner. It people.
Explanation / Answer
CASE A:
Yeah, I agree with the narrator That “Polygraph is not a reliable source in all conditions”
One side he appreciating the greatness of polygraph, that he told in first line of paragraph that “ it would be wonderful thing if there was such a machine that could tell and identify the guilty in innocent with 100% accuracy”.Other side he discussed about the limitations of polygraph that
There still isn’t clear set of physiological responses excusively associated with lying
Yes, he is right in this way, because human biological makeup is unique and uncomparable with others. So each and every body gives resposes according their biological makeup and their social experiences.
Therefore how can we generalize that each and every body’s heart rate, blood pressure, skin moisture, and breathing were same while lying.
Example:
A well trained criminal can control his physical arousals under any circumstances.
A covert person can feel fear by seeing group of policemen and polygraph even though he is not a criminal . Results high blood pressure, high heart rate and increase in skin moisture
CASE B
I agree with the content written in CASE B but not significant because there are some limitations in this content
I AGREE WHY?
Asking yes or no questions is a really tricky method because participant can’t manage his physical arousal according to observer desirable manner because he should say yes or no in couple of seconds. In this time he say only his inner answer
NOT SIGNIFICANT. WHY?
As I told in case A human biological make up is unique . Human body gives responses according to that biological make up. But in case B U.S customs officers generalizing the output of physical arousal. Some people eventhough they have patriotism they feel fear by seeing group of officers. Therefore their physical arousals not satisfies customs officers . Therefore we will loss great agents by the using of polygraph
So using of polygraph may generates false conclusions to us because we can’t generalize the physical arousals of humans.
