Explanation / Answer

Q) What was Milgram trying to investigate

A) Milgram was trying to investigate whether Germans were particularly obedient to authoritative figures as this was the common explanation for killing of Nazi's in World war 2

Q) How are his findings applicable to the real world

A) Milgram's experiment says that ordinary people are likely to follow the orders given by authoritative figures, even to the extent of killing an innocent human being. People tend to obey the orders from other people of they recognise their authority as morally right or legally based. This response to legitimate authority can be seen in variety of situations like family, school, workplace etc.
