After completing the Race IAT and one other test that focuses on a social identity (gender, religion, sexuality, age, etc.), and doing the assigned readings, please answer the following questions (maximum 2 pages):

1. What are you reactions to the results from the two IATs you completed? What were some of the thoughts and feelings you experienced while completing the tests?

2. What are some of the strategies you'd like to explore to decouple some of the associations you might hold? How could you build some of these strategies into your Universiry experience or your current workplace?

Debriefing The sorting test you just took is called the implicit Association Test A·You categorized good and bad words with images of African Americans and European Americans. Here is your result: Your data suggest a slight automatic preference for European Americans over African Americans Your result is described as an 'Automatic preference for African Americans over European Americans" if you were faster responding when African Americans and Good are assigned to the same response key than when European Americans and Good were classified with the same key. Your score is described as an "Automatic preference for European Americans over African Americans" if the opposite occurred Your automatic preference may be described as "slight", "moderate", "strong", or "no preference". This indicates the strength of your automatic preference The IAT requires a certain number of correct responses in order to get results. If you made too many errors while completing the test you will get the feedback that there were too many errors to determine a result. Note that your IAT result is based only on the categorization task and not on the questions that you answered. Please answer the following questions about your results

Explanation / Answer

The results indicated a slight preference of European Americans over African Americans, as this test is based in the psychological thinking patterns on the basis of similarities and relevance, in my opinion, the result is pretty accurate. While completing the tests, I observed that the test mainly focuses on the social psychological factors such as object memory and it’s relativity which helps us form judgement and opinions.

In order to decouple or rather disassociate with certain preconceived notions that you might hold, it is essential to reassess a few judgements and views by trying to look at them from a different viewpoint or perspective altogether. It is essential to have an open mind towards the traits and personalities of different individuals and take it as they are instead of associating them with a certain race, religion or even gender. This would help one in being approachable and respectful towards all.
