Bipolar disorder is a kind of mental health problem.

It is caused when there is a disbalance in mood , psychomotor activities ,cognition etc. During the depression phase , a person continuosly goes through persistent feelings of sadness, losing interest from the ones which an individual used to enjoy previously, thoughts of having suicide etc. These thoughts are not felt in a nomal condition.

Bipolar disorder develops symptoms of hallucinations . Most of the cases are found to be genetic in nature , and it gets passed from one generation to another.

It is neurological as well. it is caused by severe injury resulting from traumatic brain injury, stroke etc.

Biology behind this disorder is ,

1. Only one gene is not responsible for the occurence of bipolar disorder . Rather , it is for quite number of genes that plays a factor for bipolar disorder.

2. Dysfunctioning in the emotional brain circuits , also hampers the emotional connection of an individal.

Usage of sunstance like alchohol, cigarettes, etc also exaggerates the effect of a person suffering from bipolar disorder .

Combating the issue:

Using Lithium reduces the case of bipolar disorder among the people. It helps in reducing the rate of commiting suicide, crime , self - harm, death etc.

Usage of mood stabilizers are used in order to control the mood swings of a person. Valproic acid is one of them . Mood stabilizers are used for long term mood stabilizing.
