Question
This exercise pertains to material we've covered in Chapters 1 - 5. For each of the following passages, indicate whether it contains an argument. If it does, specify the conclusion and the premises, whether it is deductive or inductive, whether it is a good argument (sound or cogent), or whether it is a fallacy and identify the species of fallacy it is. Be careful: almost all passages do not contain an argument.
6. If Congress bans automatic weapons, America will slide down a slippery slope leading to the banning of all guns, the shredding of the Bill of Rights, and a totalitarian police state.
Explanation / Answer
Hello!
premises; If congress bans automatic weapons , America will slide down a slippery slope leading to the banning of all guns
conclusion; shredding of the bill of Rights, and a totalitarian police state .
It is in the form of an inductive argument because both the premise and the conclusion are trying to give out the same meaning .
It is a sound argument because the reasons it is providing are quiet real.
The type of fallacy used here is the circular Argument because through out it only seems like it has almost the same premise and conclusion.
Thankyou, hope this helped
