Question
1) state the function of this muscle:
2) what functional neuron type would innervate it to produce contraction of the muscle?
3) Apply principle M7 to determine the action and the plane of movement for this muscle
(disregard the highlighted sections as they were for different questions, these questions are related to where the arrows are pointing. )
M7 The position of a muscle relative to a joint determines the plane and direction of movement it can produce at that joint.
2 a) Glenohumeral Joint, multiaxial synovial ball and socket joint 1a) Triceps brachiiV 3a) flexor carpi radialiExplanation / Answer
Ans .1. It is the deltoid muscle .
It mainly has three functions. It is an extensor muscle.
Its contraction of anterior fibre flexes and medially rotates the arm. It does this job by pulling the humeras bone towards the clavicles.
2nd function is the abduction of arm results in the arm moving away from the body.
Ans 2. Motor neurons are the functional neurons which innervate it to produce the contraction of the muscles. But all muscle contraction are also controlled by the brain too. It also has neuromuscular response.
Ans 3. The pivot joint is present between the radius and ulna. This joint allows the rotation of radius around the ulna , the turns the palm of the hand . And the second joint is the hinge joint which is present between humerous and radius . This joint permits the flexion and extension movement.
