Explanation / Answer

Diabetes is now a major reason of the development of various kind of medical instabilities. As far as it is concerned, we can call diabetes an impairment. It is because, in non-disabled persons, diabetes create a havoc of signs and symptoms leading to permanent impairment of various body functions. It cannot be called just a medical diagnosis as it has a lot more to do with it.

The proper definitions that can be considered are -

1. A medical diagnosis is a process to reach the cause of disease behind it.

2. An impairment is loss of body's physiological, physical and mental ability to perform normally. It could be due to various reasons.

3. Functional limitation refers to the absence of a ility to perform day to day functions due to any kind of disease etc.

According to the above definitions,

Instability - functional limitation

Unable to reach top of head- functional limitation

Multiple sclerosis- impairment

Fractured neck of femur- impairment

Inability to walk one block- functional limitation

Cannot sleep more than three hours- functional limitation

Frequent falling with ambulation- functional limitation

T10 paraplagia- impairment

Severed ulnar nerve- medical diagnosis

10-90 degree knee flexion- medical diagnosis

Cerebral palsy- impairment

Hypermobility- medical diagnosis

Unable to sit unsupported- functional limitation

Circumducted gait pattern- medical diagnosis
