The current problems of the Basket ball player are :

1. He is unable to perform cutting and jumping .

2. Grade-2 Ankle sprain - 3 weeks duration.

Grade-2 Ankle sprain usually takes 6-8 weeks to get full Recovery.Till then he needs to follow the Below Routines:

1.The foot and the leg may be dipped in ice cold water to mid-calf Level for 20 mts daily.

2. Applying Compressive Elastic Bandage with reinforcing zinc oxide strips.

3.Ultrasonic Therapy at a dosage of 3MHZ,pulsed 0.25 W cm-2 for 10 minutes.This can be progressed upto 1W cm-2 for 10 minutes.

4.Cyriax Massage to clear Oedema.

Exercises upto 8 weeks :

1.Free active Exercises for every Hour.

a. Feet pushing and pulling up.

b. Feet turning in and out.

Exercises After 8 weeks :

a. Mild Resisted Exercises using Theraband.

b. Auto-Resisted exercises using other foot or Hand.

c. Stretch and Release technique: The player is instructed to turn in and out the foot and hold at the point of stretch and release.

d. In sitting , marking time , raising heels and toes.

e. Repeat the same exercises ,holding the chair or wall.

f.Balance training with eyes closed and standing on the affected leg.

g.Throwing and catching a ball.

h. Wobble board practice by standing on the affected leg only.

i.spring starts,Bob jumps, sideway jumps, skipping and Hopping.

WHEN THE PLAYER HAS ZERO PAIN OR NO PAIN WHILE JUMPING, HOPPING , AND CUTTING ,HE CAN RETURN PRACTISING BASKET BALL. ROUTINE WARM EXERCISES AND COOL -DOWN EXERCISES ARE MUST AT THE BEGINNING AND END OF PRACTICE .GOOD ENERGY ,FLUID,AND ELECTROLYTE NEEDS HAVE TO BE CONCENTRATED TO PREVENT FURTHER INJURY.
