The three ways to alter the force are to bring about a change in the following

Length of muscle fiber

The basic structure of a muscle fibre includes a saromere which further has myofilaments in it.Contraction of a muscle occurs when the gliding of the myofilaments occurs.The actin and myosin myofilaments vary in sizes from each other with myosin myofilaments being longer than actin myofilaments( each being in size range rage of 2-3 micrometers lenth). The maximal shortening that happens in a sarcomere is approximatel till the length of the myosin molecules. Since the muscle fiber is composed of sarcomere which ultimately is composed of myofibrils, contraction of the muscle is diretly dependent on both the factors which futher depend on the length of the myofibril.More the length,more would be contraction and stretching of the muscle. The increase in the legth of any of the structure would cause an increased amount of contraction force while a decreased length would decrease the contraction force.
