Explanation / Answer

The menstural cycle is the regular natural change which occurs in the human reproductive system which makes pregnancy possible. This cycle is required for the production of ovocytes and preparation of uterusfor the pregnancy.

The 1st period usually begins at the age between 12-15.the menstural cycle has a gap of 21-35 days in adults.

The menstural cycle is governed by hormonal changes.

Each ovarian cycle can be divided into 3phases which are the follicular phase, ovulation and luteal phase.each uterine cycle is divided into mensturation, proliferative and secretory phase

It is stimulated by the increasing amount of oestrogen in the follicular phaseand discharge of blood flow stops and the uterus becomes thick. The follicles in the ovary are produced because of hormones and after some time one or occasionally two become dominant

In the mid cycle after the leutinizing horomone surges, the dominant follicle releases ovocyte which is known as OVULATION.after ovulation there ovocyte lives only for 24hrs and less without fertilization while the remains of the dominant follicle become corpus leuteum.this body has main function of releasing progesterone to prepare for implantation.within two weeks if it is not fertilized, the corpus leuteum will begin with a sharp drop in the oestrogen and progesterone.

This hormone drop causes the uterine to shed it's lining in a process called MENSTRUATION.
