Hence due to this reason FT3/ FT4 in boys is relatively higher than in girls as boys are energetic than that of girls
The free T3 and T4 ratios In boys was negatively associated with quantitative insulin
Whereas in girls,TSH levels was positively associated with levels of glucose .
T3 regulates energy metabolism,thermogenesis, food intake, lipid and glucose metabolism and oxidation of fatty acids.
Thyroid dysfunction can cause alterations in the above mentioned functions which can lead to changes in body weight and composition. Hence obesity results
