Explanation / Answer
C1) ORGANIZATION OF LYMPG NODE:
The lymphatic nodes occur at intervals in the course of lymphatic vessels. They are masses of recticular tissue wrapped in a capsule of fibrous tissue. They contain lymphocytes, plasma cells, and fixed macrophages. The afferent lymphatic vesselenter and efferent lymphatic vessel leave the lymphatic nodes. The lymphatic nodes are specially abudant in spscific regions such as the groins, armpits and neck.
C2) Major functions of lymphatic system:-
- It drains excess fluid from the extracellular spaces back into the blood.
- It carries CO2 and nitrogenous waste materials that diffuse into the tissue fluid to the blood.
- It takes lymphocytes and antibodies frm the lymphatic nodes to the blood.
- It transports fat digested and absorbed in the intestine to the blood in the form of chylomicron droplets.
- It destroys the invading micro- organisms and foreign particles in the lymphatic nodes. etc.
C3) The lymph flows in lymphatic vessels very slowly. Forcing out of fluid from the blood capillaries sets up some pressure in the tissue fluid. This establishes a pressure gradient in the lymphatics, causing flow of lymph in the later. The valves present in the lymphatic vessels prevent its back flow. Movement of villi assists flow of lymh in the lacteals. Gravity helps in moving the lymph down the lymphatic vessels of head and neck. Lymphatic system normally return to the veins less than 28 grams of fluid per minute
C4) ANATOMY OF SPLEEN:
The spleen is large, bean shaped, vascular, dark- red organlocated in the abdomen just below the diaphragm at the tail of the pancreas behind the stomach. It is enlarged in serve infection. The spleen is composed of red plup (recticular tissue rich in RBC's) having mall patches of white plup ( lymphatic nodules), scattered in it. The red plup is enclosed by a capsuleof white fibrous tissue. The capsule sends trabeculae into the plupand is surrounded by visceral peritoneum.
