Question
what is the voltage gated ion channel that is opened by the actions potential at the synapse? sodium channel, potassium channel, calcium channel, or chloride channel? what is the voltage gated ion channel that is opened by the actions potential at the synapse? sodium channel, potassium channel, calcium channel, or chloride channel? what is the voltage gated ion channel that is opened by the actions potential at the synapse? sodium channel, potassium channel, calcium channel, or chloride channel?Explanation / Answer
Voltage gated Calcium channel
When action potential reaches at synapse then it leads to opening of voltage gated calcium channel. So calcium ion flow inside the cell. These calcium ion binds to secretory vesicles which stores neurotransmitter. This leads to docking (fusion of synaptic membrane with vesicles and release of neurotransmitter).
